This was developed in the old USSR, for the Soviet Space program, and used by the Russian Cosmonaut community in the 1980s. The entire program was apparently forgotten and abandoned in the confusion during and following the dissolution of the USSR, into Ukraine and Russia, etc.

The body of scientific research existed, but was forgotten, till the 2010s, when one party tried to revive and bring the product to market, in Ukraine, as "Miramistin". But after the Russian invasion, and subsequent state of unrest and instability that started thence, this too was scrapped, and once again forgotten.
